Japanese Tonkatsu with Curry
Japanese Tonkatsu with Curry
Class Description
In this class, we'll be making one of Japan's most popular comfort foods, tonkatsu curry. This dish will warm your soul... imagine a crispy fried pork cutlet in a spicy savory curry sauce loaded with onions, carrots and potatoes. It's the perfect trio of flavor, fragrance and texture. The word ton (豚) comes from “pork,” while katsu (カツ) derives from the word “cutlet.” Instructor for this class is chef David Lynn Drzick, who in addition to being webmaster behind Pacific Rim Foods, Cravings and Cravings Corners, is also the owner of Ruby 'Que Catering and 3rd Place Winner of the Confucius Institute Master Chef Competition. He has traveled to both South Korea and China numerous times in the pursuit of authentic dishes for his family, friends and social gatherings.
